The rally field was not at its best, being quite sticky in places and motorhomes and a couple of caravans had to be helped on to pitches, (not to mention the chair’s outfit winning the North East Derbyshire Ploughing competition) Sallie-Ann and Nigel became stuck on the approach to their chosen pitch and despite numerous attempts by various vehicles to get them out of the mud they remained so for quite a while, eventually being freed after 45 mins of efforts.
Forty one vans arrived with two non-attenders and there were visitors from South Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Cheshire x 2 and one non-centre member.
The weather was quite foggy on the Friday but managed to clear up on the Saturday with Sunshine in the afternoon. Rally envelopes were crammed with plenty to keep people occupied throughout the week-end including a children’s colouring competition, an adult quiz, a rhyming car treasure hunt and voting paperwork for the Illuminated Van competition.
Winners of the Illuminated Van competition were as follows:
The Owen trophy – Liam and Catie Straw,
The S & M Cope Trophy – The Smalleys and The Gregorys.
Brilliant display and deserving winner by the above, featuring red carpet, filmshow, hot dogs and even an usherette!
The Hallam Trophy – Katie Allen
The Deaton Trophy – John and Ann Scott
The Powles Trophy – Adele Bond and
The Harrison Trophy went to the Nightingale family.
Thanks to all who took part. There were some amazing displays.
The rhyming car treasure hunt went off very well, causing amusement and great fun for all who participated.
The winners were Barney’s Crew, the female half of the Smalley and Gregory families, beating their male counterparts hands down.
The adult quiz was won by the non-centre member family and the colouring competition was won by Matt Griffiths who was dead chuffed to beat his sister.
Thanks to all who attended and made this rally a success.
